PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Law enforcement officers in Paragould worked together Wednesday morning to make sure drivers are safe near railroad crossings.
Officers monitored railroad crossings around town to make sure drivers are following the proper railroad signals and warnings.
"We see drivers get complacent, disregard the railroad signals, and cause accidents" said John Hauer, a senior special agent with Union Pacific. "We want people to be safe. We want them to go home."
Hauer urged drivers to give themselves enough time so they don't have to rush and to always be aware of their surroundings.
Officers with Arkansas State Police, the Paragould Police Department and Union Pacific were on hand to give out warnings and citations to those drivers who ignored the warnings at the crossings.
