JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The future of a building in downtown Jonesboro could be looking up.
Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin recently told city council members that the owners of the property under the old Citizen's Bank Building on Main Street have agreed to sell the property.
"Now we're gonna start contacting all of the owners, even on the parking lot, to make sure on that," Mayor Perrin said. "That's kindly an opening in the fact that we never could get them to even agree to sell the property underneath the building."
Mayor Perrin said he's unsure of what price the owners want to sell the property at.
The physical building is owned by the state of Arkansas
"It went back for back taxes," Mayor Perrin said. "I think the deal on that was somewhere around $43,000."
