Police search for wanted man following standoff

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Police say they need help finding a fugitive that was seen going into a Blytheville home.

Blytheville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Commander Captain Scott Adams says on Tuesday around 7:47 p.m. police were told Leslie D. Alexander, 39, was standing in front of a residence on the 100-block of East Missouri Ave.

Alexander is wanted for residential burglary, theft and parole violation.

Adams said officers approached a man matching Alexander's description. The man then ran into the house.

Officers tried to surround the house while waiting for more officers to arrive and a lengthy standoff ensued.

There was a "lack of cooperation from an occupant in the house," Adams said, but officers did get a search warrant and entered the residence.

However, they were not able to find Alexander once inside.

Police are urging that if anyone sees Alexander to call 911. Alexander does have a "violent history" and should not be approached, according to Adams.
