JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Westside shooting happened in 1998, which makes 2016 the 18th year anniversary of the tragedy.
The Westside Memorial Committee has come together for the fourth year now to raise money for the school's memorial gardens.
Saturday was the first day of them being set up around town, they were at Walmart on Harrisburg Road.
Sunday they will be at Sam's Club starting at 10 a.m.
The group will be collecting donations, selling raffle tickets for a quilt, and tickets to the Westside Memorial Ride and Benefit which will feature a car show and concert with local talent Cory Jackson and Trent Tomlinson.
Over the past three years they committee has raised a total of over 20 thousand dollars and are looking to collect even more this year.
The money they raise goes towards the memorial garden's upkeep and maintenance.
They built the garden at the middle school for the remembrance of those lives that were lost, to this day people still go to the gardens to keep those memories alive.
Raffle tickets for the quilt will be five dollars each or 20 dollars for five tickets.
The concert is March 18th, tickets will be 20 dollars per person. It will be held at the Westside High School Fine Arts Building and begins at 7 pm.
The car show will be the following day, March 19th tickets will also be 20 dollars.
Registration for the car show will being at 9 a.m. then a moment of silence at 12:41 p.m..
