AUSTIN, Ark. (AP) - A Lonoke County deputy has shot and killed a man while responding to a domestic disturbance report in Austin.
Sheriff John Staley says deputies were talking to a woman about 3:30 a.m. Sunday about the disturbance when they were confronted by an armed man and a deputy was forced to shoot the man, who died after being taken to a hospital.
Staley says he's asked Arkansas State Police to investigate the shooting and provided no other details.
The names of the deputy and the dead man were not immediately released.
Staley said the deputy is on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
