JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro woman learned the hard way that someone else’s trash is not necessarily a treasure.

Police arrested 48-year-old Rebecca Diane Vaughn on suspicion of theft by receiving greater than $1,000 but less than $5,000 after they say she tried to sell a stolen computer.

According to the initial incident report, Vaughn was sitting at a table in front on Big Al’s, 910 Magnolia, on Friday trying to sell an Apple MacBook.

When asked where she got it, Vaughn reportedly said she found the $1,600 laptop in the trash at The Links apartment complex, 1404 Links Dr.

The officer ran the computer’s serial number through dispatch and learned that it had been reported stolen Thursday night.

The officer, upon the advice of a detective, arrested Vaughn and took her to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a probable cause hearing.
