NEW MADRID, MO (KAIT) -

A Region 8 man faces child abuse and molestation charges after police say he sexually abused a young girl and put a young boy in the dryer.

On Friday, New Madrid police arrested 30-year-old Chad Austin Hickson of Portageville following a months-long investigation.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hickson is accused of forcing an 8-year-old girl to fondle his genitalia on multiple occasions.

The girl told investigators Hickson tried to force her to perform a sex act and “grabbed her by the back of the head, pulling her head down.”

The girl told investigators when she didn’t do what he asked, Hickson told her “not to tell anyone else about what was happening because he would go to jail.”

The court document also said Hickson punched the girl’s older brother in the stomach with a closed fist then put the boy in a dryer and closed the door.

The boy reportedly told investigators Hickson walked in on him while he was in the shower and exposed his genitals.

When questioned about the accusations, Hickson denied the allegations and said he “didn’t hurt those kids.”

“Hickson was asked why the kids would lie about the accusations,” the court document stated. “Hickson did not give an answer.”

Hickson is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail, charged with attempt to commit sodomy in the first degree, child molestation in the first degree, and abuse or neglect of a child.
