JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A break-in Saturday morning in a home shared by several college students shook up the residents and neighbors in the area.
According to a Jonesboro police report, it happened in the 4800-block of Wildwood Lane.
The suspect allegedly got into an unlocked vehicle at the home and used the garage door opener to open the garage and get inside the home.
One of the homeowners told police she went to bed at 1 a.m. then woke up a few hours later and saw her bedroom door wide open.
The garage door and the door leading into the home from the garage were also open.
She told police her wallet was taken from the kitchen counter.
Their neighbor, Doug Wilcoxson, heard about the break-in and said he was concerned for their safety.
"If you're in your house and somebody walks in and you're there, that can always be scary," Wilcoxson said. "I let them know if they need anything they can always come over and ask for help."
Police later found a garage door opener in the yard.
One of the women who was not home at the time told Region 8 News a package was stolen from her roommate's bedroom, but they did not take other valuable items that were in plain sight.
If anyone has any information on this crime they are urged to call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP.
