AHTD To Host Public Forum on Proposed Rail Overpass in West Memphis

MARCH 23, 2005 - Posted at 4:06 p.m. CST

WEST MEMPHIS, AR - The Arkansas State Highway & Transportation Department will host an open house-public meeting for the West Memphis-Marion Area Rail Overpass Study.

The meeting is set for April 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at McGruder Hall at Mid-South Community College.

The study was recently begun by the AHTD to determine the need for and feasibility of constructing railroad overpasses to enhance traffic flow and safety in the West Memphis/Marion area.  Maps will be available at the meeting showing the various highway/rail crossings in the area.

The meeting will give the public an opportunity to comment on the need for railroad overpasses and to provide early input for the study.  Representatives of the AHTD, as well as the consultant preparing the study will be available to answer questions and receive comments.
