POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) -

Police say they caught a man suspected in the armed robbery of local convenience store with the cash still in his hands.

Poplar Bluff police say Timothy J. Johnson, 46, robbed JD’s Quick Stop, 1529 N. Main, just before 9 p.m. Monday.

According to a news release from the police department, a man wearing a ski mask and a black coat with gloves walked into the store, flashed a knife at an employee, and said, “Give me all your money.”

After getting the cash, police say the suspect ran out of the store toward a wooded area.

While searching the area, police reportedly found Johnson hiding in the woods, “holding multiple bills of currency in his hand.”

Police say Johnson admitted to the crime during questioning.

He is being held in the Butler County Justice Center.
