Victim says suspect broke into home, stood over him while sleeping

FIFTY-SIX, AR (KAIT) - Sheriff's deputies arrested a man who reportedly broke into a person's home and stood over them as they slept.

According to a Stone County Sheriff's Office post on Facebook, deputies were called to the 7300-block of Arkansas Highway 14 in Fifty-Six on Jan. 30.

The homeowner told investigators he awoke to find Garrett Cole Passmore standing over him.

The victim reportedly "jumped to his feet, pushed Passmore against the wall in the bedroom and struck him until Passmore broke away and fled the scene."

It is not known how Passmore got in because the homeowner says they locked the doors before going to bed. Deputies, according to the post, did not see any damage done to the doors.

Passmore was caught going through the homeowner's personal belongings days prior to the incident while Passmore was visiting them.

Passmore was arrested and charged with breaking or entering and probation violation. The sheriff's office notes that Passmore has a "lengthy criminal history, which includes narcotics possession and criminal trespass."

He is being held without bond in the Stone County Detention Center.
