PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Abilities Unlimited in Paragould is expanding their store's merchandise.
The store originally started as a clothing consignment shop, but over the years, social media and the internet have affected store sales.
According to Marketing Director Heather Holmes, people have taken to Facebook, Craigslist, and eBay to sell their clothes because the payoff is faster.
"They could get their money immediately instead of waiting for it to cycle through consignment so we really were experiencing a decrease in consigners coming in and then a decrease in our merchandise selling," Holmes said.
So to increase sales, Holmes and store employees decided to start selling high-end home decor and furniture.
"We're hoping that people will really be interested in this type of a store so they can redecorate their home for a really affordable price as well as find those DIY pieces," said Holmes.
Holmes said this will be a great opportunity for people looking to downsize or get rid of some furniture.
It's also an opportunity for those looking for signature pieces they can refurnish while not spending a lot of money.
Abilities Unlimited has already started collecting a few pieces, but they need more.
The store will continue to sell clothing and accessories, but the furniture will be a new addition.
"We will mix it in and lead it in slowly and, hopefully, we will have that done within the next couple of months," Holmes said.
People can drop off donated furniture to the store on North 2nd Street in Paragould.
