KENNETT, MO (KAIT) - The owner of one Region 8 tow truck company says synthetic marijuana keeps him busy on a near daily basis.
"They think that if they call it some other name, then it goes away," Adam Squires said. "No. If it is fake dope, if it is fake weed, whatever you want to call it, it is it."
Squires said lately synthetic marijuana, also known as K2 or potpourri, is a contributing factor in a large number of the vehicles he tows from car wrecks.
"They'll huff stuff or smoke the potpourri," Adam Squires told Region 8 News. "A month ago, we pulled a car out of a ditch."
The Kennett Police Department recently warned of an increase in overdoses from K2.
They also made two drug arrests where the illegal street drug was found.
As for Squires, he just hopes K2 goes away soon for the safety of Kennett residents.
"My biggest fear, what about our children? I've got a 9- and 10-year-old kid and you don't know what they're going to be taunted with in the school," Squires said. "You don't even know how to combat it! They're making it up different as you go."
K2 isn't just making a resurgence in the Missouri Bootheel either.
Batesville police stated they had three medical emergencies and one death related to synthetic marijuana over the weekend.
