POLLARD, AR (KAIT) - Clay County sheriff's deputies arrested a Pollard man on drug and littering charges after they say he tossed meth outside of a car window.
Sheriff Terry Miller says Tuesday evening a deputy noticed a vehicle run a stop sign on County Road 154.
As the deputy got out of his patrol cruiser, "he noticed a white object being thrown out of the passenger side of the vehicle," Miller said in a social media post.
The passenger, later identified as 67-year-old Dennis Calhoun, reportedly denied throwing anything from the window.
But, when the deputy searched the ditch beside the stopped vehicle, he found a white piece of paper folded over and concealing suspected methamphetamine.
The deputy arrested Calhoun on a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and misdemeanor littering. He is currently free after posting $10,000 bond.
The driver, 54-year-old Allen Morgan of Pollard, was charged with driving on a suspended driver's license, no proof of insurance, and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was released on his own recognizance.
