Public meetings set on property maintenance code

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The city of Jonesboro will host two public meetings to explain the new property maintenance code.

Mark Roberts, senior regional manager for government relations of the International Code Council, will speak at the two meetings scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the Council Chambers.

The first meeting will be held form 3 until 4:30 p.m. The second, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Each session, according to an email from Roy Ockert, interim director of communications, will include a presentation and a question-and-answer period. Both will be televised live on Suddenlink government access channel 24.

The city council adopted the new code in December.

Although it went into effect in January, Mayor Harold Perrin declared a 60-day amnesty period on enforcement.

In the interim, the city will accept complaints but no further action will be taken until April 1.
