Report: Jonesboro leads AR in job growth

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - When it comes to leading the Natural State in job growth, Jonesboro appears to be at a successful level.

That is according to a report Thursday by Arkansas Business.

The article notes that Jonesboro features many industries, including agricultural and medical. With the diversity in jobs, along with no major manufacturer, the city "doesn't suffer from the volatile economic fluctuations that plague other parts of the state and country."

Arkansas Business reports Jonesboro had a 4.3 percent increase in job growth in 2015 and estimations show another 2.3 percent increase in 2016, according to numbers from the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Some of the top employers in Jonesboro the article noted were St. Bernards Healthcare, Arkansas State University and NEA Baptist Health System.
