Homeowners find items stolen, bed set on fire

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Jonesboro police are investigating a burglary where the thief also set a bed on fire.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the 400-block of Freeman Street around 10:40 p.m. Monday in response to a breaking and entering.

A man said he and his partner had been gone since about 3:30 p.m. that day.

He said when they got home they found their bed had been set on fire. A television set and Bluetooth speaker were also missing.

Officers found that all of the outside doors were locked, but a bedroom window was left open several inches.

Two cigarettes were found near the window along with a can of liquid paint stripper.

The homeowner said the paint stripper did not belong to him and was not at the house when he left.

He also told police that a real estate agent stopped by the house around 6:45 p.m. to drop something off and said nothing was out of the ordinary at that time.

If you have any information about this case, call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP.
