Lepanto police make two drug arrests Tuesday

LEPANTO, AR (KAIT) -

Lepanto police arrested two people Tuesday on several drug charges.

Officers along with their K9 partner, Cardi, conducted a search warrant at a house in the 200-block of Powell street, according to a press release from the police department.

During the search they found 14.3 grams of methamphetamine packaged for distribution, an undisclosed amount of marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia.

Officers arrested 45-year-old Michael Garrett and 40-year-old Aisha Gardner, both from Lepanto.

Garrett is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He will also receive charge enhancements for proximity to certain facilities and subsequent convictions.

Gardner is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a minor.

According to the press release, Garrett was also arrested on a separate warrant from an undercover investigation.

His charges from that investigation include possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, delivery of methamphetamine and use of a communication device to deliver drugs.

Garrett is awaiting a probable cause hearing.

Gardner is awaiting her first appearance in district court.
