JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police arrested a Jonesboro man after they say he opened fire on two women outside a convenience store.
Officers arrested Robert Lee Woods, 19, Wednesday morning on suspicion of aggravated assault, possession of meth or cocaine less than 2 grams and discharging firearms within city limits.
Shortly before 3:30 a.m. police responded to a shots fired report at Jonesboro Express Mart, 811 N. Church.
The victims told investigators Woods "shot a gun at them then took off" toward Center Street where he lived.
Police went to Woods' home and questioned him about the events.
According to the incident report, Woods did not deny he was at the store, but claimed someone else fired the shots.
At that time an officer took Woods into custody.
When asked if he had anything illegal on him, Woods reportedly told the officer to check a cigarette pack inside his left front pocket.
Inside the pack, the officer reported finding a plastic-wrapped baggie containing suspected methamphetamine.
A search of his room turned up a black revolver, the report stated.
After Woods was in custody, another officer walked the path that he may have walked from the store and "found three spent casings on the sidewalk" that reportedly matched the caliber of the gun found in Woods' room.
Woods was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a probable cause hearing.
