County warns residents of jury duty phone scam

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Craighead County Circuit Court is warning residents of an apparent phone scam threatening to issue fines and arrests for missing jury duty.

According to Circuit Clerk Candace Edwards, the victim of this scam received a phone call from a person claiming to be with the "Craighead County Sheriff's Department or other law enforcement."

The caller told the victim they missed jury duty and they would need to pay a fine or else be arrested.

They also told the victim there was an already an arrest warrant signed by Judge Ed Hill.

Edwards says the clerk's office will never contact you over the phone to collect money for missing jury duty.
