JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A month after being rescued along the Black River, a lost dog has a new family.
In January, a group of duck hunters found a black and white dog floating on the river downstream from Lynn.
Efforts made to find the dog's owners were unsuccessful.
The dog, later named "Tippy," was taken to the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society.
She's been waiting to be adopted ever since.
On Valentine's Day though, Tippy surprised the employees at the NEA Humane Society, and now they'll have even more pups to adopt out.
"You ever hear the stories of women who had babies and never realized they were pregnant? I always thought of how that could be possible. Well, now I know," the NEA Humane Society posted on Facebook.
According to the post, three veterinarians and multiple people who came into contact with Tippy failed to realize she was pregnant.
"This sweet momma was playing outside yesterday and ate like a champ!" the post said. "No sign that she was pregnant, much less ready to give birth!"
She did though. On Valentine's Day, Tippy gave birth to five puppies and they all appear to be healthy.
