JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police were called to the Nettleton school campus Thursday morning, after a teacher says they saw three high school students smoking weed before school.

According to the police report, the teacher called police saying three black males were seen smoking something behind the football field.

An officer came to the school to question the three boys and check their belongings.

Police did not find anything on the first two students, but found a gun in the third student's backpack.

There was a silver revolver laying at the bottom of the bag according to the police report.

The student told police the gun did not even work and that it was not his.

Police transported the student to the Craighead County Juvenile Detention Center for possessing a firearm by a minor on school property.
