Minor damage reported from Sunday morning storms

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

10:44 a.m. update: Sheriff Gary Tribble reports that the Peco Foods plant did have some roof damage. The storms also caused a small gas leak. It was not a main line and the gas was quickly turned off. 

9:08 a.m. update: The North Arkansas Electric Cooperative reported a blown lightning arrestor after this morning's storm. Approximately 1,600 customers were without power in Baxter County.

8:49 a.m. update: Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble said his office is now receiving damage reports from the Shannon community. Tribble said he's gotten reports of damage at R&R Construction, which is located at the corner of Martin Road and Highway 67 just north of Shannon.

He said the storm blew the doors out of the building and overturned a tractor trailer in the parking lot.

As the storm moved east and crossed the highway, it hit an empty building and damaged some fencing.

No injuries were reported.

A severe thunderstorm moving through Region 8 dropped so much hail in Randolph County Sunday morning, it looked like snow.

Multiple pictures shared on social media show pea-sized hail west of Pocahontas. The National Weather Service reported that winds were up to 50 miles per hour.

According to Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble, his dispatchers have not been notified of any storm damage. His office did receive reports of high wind and lots of hail.

The storm dropped up to quarter-sized hail in some areas.
