Thieves hit Jonesboro home; steal guns and whiskey

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man says thieves broke into his home and stole his guns and whiskey.

According to a Jonesboro Police Department incident report, the theft happened sometime on Friday, Feb. 19 on the 2,700-block of Gallaway Lane.

The homeowner's daughter came home to find the family dog was not where it was supposed to be.

The man discovered the back storm door was left opened.

According to the incident report, the man said he won a shotgun and three bottles of whiskey at a benefit on Thursday.

He reported the shotgun, 1 bottle of whiskey and a rifle had been stolen.

The homeowner believes the thieves may have been a few juveniles from the benefit, who were "familiar with his home."

Police observed there was no forced entry into the home and nothing had been damaged.

In a separate burglary investigation, Jonesboro police found a thief targeted a specific item.

A woman discovered on Friday afternoon her neighbor's apartment on West Monroe Avenue had been broken into.

According to the incident report, the tenant came home and worked with investigators to find what was taken.

The man said the suspect stole his PlayStation 4 and its controllers, but the PlayStation games were still there.

Two longs guns and a pistol, kept in plain view, were not stolen either.

No arrests have been made in either the Gallaway Lane burglary or the West Monroe burglary.
