BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Feb. 24 UPDATE: According to Blytheville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Commander Captain Scott Adams, Matthew White was arraigned in court on Wednesday.
His bond was set at $150,000 cash only. He is set to appear in court again on March 31.
Police arrested a man they say pulled a gun on an officer while investigating a burglary.
Blytheville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Commander Captain Scott Adams says officers went to the 600-block of Beale St. to a reported burglary on Monday around 4 p.m.
The female victim told police her cousin, Matthew White, 27, ran from the house wearing a red hoodie and blue jeans.
Adams says officers attempted to talk with a man matching that description in the 2400-block of McHaney Dr. When officers approached the man they noticed a "large bulge in the right pocket of the hoodie."
Police asked the man what was in his pocket and tried to perform a pat down.
However, Adams states the man immediately turned and ran northeast. Officers tried to use a stun gun on him, but it was ineffective.
After chasing the man for another block, Adams states the suspect turned, pointed a handgun at an officer, turned and ran again.
Police continued to chase the man who they say had the gun in his hand until an officer lost sight of him around the 2300-block of West Rose St.
Officers did find the man hiding in a "burnt-out residence" on West Rose, but they were unable to find the handgun he is accused of carrying, according to Adams.
Adams adds officers later retraced the pursuit and found "the loaded small caliber weapon seen by both the victim and the officer."
The suspect was identified as White.
A resident on Beale reportedly told officers White approached the home, pointed a gun at a boy and entered the residence. He is then accused of entering his cousin's room to take paperwork including a title to a disputed vehicle.
White denied the incident including pointing a gun at an officer.
He was arrested for aggravated residential burglary, theft of property, two counts of aggravated assault and fleeing.
White is in the Mississippi County Jail awaiting a probable cause hearing Wednesday.
