MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Grizzlies center Marc Gasol will miss the rest of this season after having surgery to repair his broken right foot.
The Grizzlies announced Tuesday morning that Gasol had surgery Saturday to repair the non-displaced fracture of a navicular bone in the center's right foot.
General manager Chris Wallace said in a statement that surgery went according to plan and Gasol is expected to make a full recovery.
Gasol scored 11 points in the first quarter Feb. 8 against Portland before leaving with the injury. Gasol says it's frustrating not to be on the court right now but this surgery is meant to assure his long-term health.
The Grizzlies currently are 32-23 and fifth in the Western Conference. Memphis has won two of three games without Gasol.
