POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) - What started out as a disturbance call for Poplar Bluff police turned into a drug investigation where one person was arrested.
A news release from the police department states officers were called to an argument involving a man and woman Tuesday in the 700-block of Highway 53.
Police spoke with the pair from Chico, CA and noted "inconsistencies in their stories as to where they were traveling to."
The man, 36-year-old Patrick R. Marroitt, reportedly admitted to being a methamphetamine user and having a meth pipe in the center console of his vehicle.
Marroitt was arrested and then told officers he had "an additional quantity of marijuana in his vehicle."
Police searched the vehicle after obtaining a warrant and found about 9 pounds of suspected marijuana, according to the release.
Marroitt was booked into the Butler County Justice Center on charges of driving while revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance.
