JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro smoking lounge wants to serve hooch along with its hookahs.

Ahab S. Alammar of Mango’s Grill applied for a new Private Club-Class A permit last week with the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration’s Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The lounge, located at 2213 S. Caraway, opened last summer.

On a related note, ABC Director Gary “Bud” Roberts approved a new Beer On-Premises permit for Bob-O’s Dance Gaming, 204 East St. in Harrisburg after receiving no objections from public officials.

The permit is conditional upon completion of remodeling with reinspection by ABC Enforcement.

Roberts also granted a new Small Farm Wine-Retail permit to Dollar General Store #7264, 1810 South Division in Blytheville, and a new Private Club and Beer On-Premises permit for Salsa’s of Mountain Home, 965 Highway 62 East.

Despite letters of opposition from the First Baptist Church and the Ministerial Alliance of the Calico Rock Area, Roberts granted a new Private Club permit for T.J.’s Southern BBQ, 804 Highway 56.

The director also granted a new Private Club permit for 109 Main Dining Club in Batesville. The permit is conditional upon completion of remodeling; receipt of health department approval; installation of kitchen facilities, restrooms and a telephone; and reinspection by ABC Enforcement.
