Afternoon accident claims life of child

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The child killed in Friday's crash at the intersection of Highland Drive and Fair Park Blvd was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, according to police.

According to the report, the driver of the vehicle told police the 7-year-old boy was sitting in the front seat.

She told police they just bought new video games and he was opening them.

Because the crash was a fatality, blood samples were collected from both drivers involved.

A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highland Drive and Fair Park Blvd Friday led to the death of a child.

According to a press release from the Jonesboro Police Department, the child and two adults were taken to St. Bernards.

The Craighead County Coroner was later called and the child was pronounced dead.

The names of those involved are being withheld until family can be notified.

According to dispatchers, crews on the scene of the accident provided CPR to a child.

JPD is currently investigating this wreck.
