Repairs made to Piggott picnic grounds

The Piggott Cemetery Association recently made some upgrades to their picnic grounds.

Scott Hartwell, the president of the association, said the kitchen has needed repairs for a while now.

The Fourth of July event is a big deal for the town and the kitchen plays a large role in the celebration.

The association replaced the roof that had several leaks in it.

Hartwell said the kitchen needs more work, but this is a big step in the renovating process.

A Piggott resident told Region 8 News he is hopeful these renovations will lead to an expansion.

“I have a little girl and she’s 8 years old and we like to come here and have a lot of fun,” Kevin Edmonds Jr. said. “I think it’s great they can actually upgrade and hopefully they can continue to expand with this picnic and bring more people and more business back to this town, because we really need it.”

Hartwell hopes to get the building painted before summer. He said that depends on the time and money they have available.
