JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A small road running through the old NEA District Fairgrounds will remain a private road.
On Tuesday, the Jonesboro City Council unanimously denied accepting the road.
It runs behind Centennial Bank beside Academy Sports and is not up to city code.
Many drivers use the road to cut from Red Wolf Boulevard to Fair Park Boulevard.
If the city had accepted the road, it would have cost nearly $223,000 to improve it.
The road will remain open to traffic until the land is sold.
Because the city did not accept the road, whoever buys the remainder of the old fairground property does have the chance to close the road to traffic.
