PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - School districts across the United States and here in Arkansas just wrapped up Read Across America week.

The event, which coincides with Dr. Seuss's birthday, motivates children to read.

Locally, one group has been doing just that for years.

Pay it Forward Paragould began placing Little Free Libraries in the Paragould community in 2014.

Dustin Rumsey with Pay it Forward said whether it's on a national or local level, encouraging kids to read is invaluable

"I love speaking to kids and reading to classrooms," Rumsey said.  "Whether it's Harry Potter or The Avengers or Lord of the Rings, there's no theater, no movie screen that can match what you have in your head and a book is a whole world that you can just sit down and read."

Little Free Libraries are located in Paragould at Harmon Park, Reynolds Park, Pecan Grove, Rotary Club Softball Park, Swirlz and Carriage Hills.
