JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - It is all about the most important meal of the day at Jonesboro Public Schools this week.

It is National Breakfast Week, and the School of Visual and Performing Arts in Jonesboro kicked off its celebration Monday morning.

Parents and students were welcomed in the car line by Ace the Fox along with breakfast bars.

Dianna Willie, cafeteria manager, said she hoped by passing out breakfast options for parents it would encourage the entire family to eat breakfast.

Willie said the benefits of eating breakfast are clear.

"Breakfast helps you to learn better, helps you focus better," Willie said. "Your stomach isn't growling. You are not thinking about when you are going to eat again. You are focused on what you're supposed to be doing in the classroom."

The cafeteria staff decorated the breakfast wagons as buses to go with their theme "Get on the bus to a healthy breakfast."

They spent the morning stuffing the buses full of nutrition breakfast options that were delivered to the students to eat in their classrooms.

Events continue all week with themed days.

Monday was wear yellow day. Tuesday is milk mustache day. Wednesday is bed head day.

Slippers day is Thursday followed by pajama day on Friday.
