JPD: Family finds 181 grams of meth outside restaurant

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A family in search of sushi instead found a mound of meth.

A Cherokee Village man reported the found drugs around 1:19 p.m. Sunday at Sumo's Japanese Steakhouse, 2801 Red Wolf.

The man said he and his family had just arrived at the restaurant when his wife noticed plastic sticking up from beneath the rocks in a landscaped area south of the front doors.

When she pulled on the plastic, up came a "baseball-sized package."

The couple realized the package contained drugs and immediately called Jonesboro police.

Corporal Gary Jackson retrieved the package, took it to the police department, where he said it tested positive for methamphetamine (ICE).

In his initial incident report, Jackson said the meth weighed 181 grams.

He placed the value at $18,000.
