JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - When he couldn't get the cash in the register, Jonesboro police say a robber took a chance and stole dozens of lottery tickets.
A clerk at Tobacco Warehouse, 1013 S. Gee, told police the robber came into the store shortly after 8:30 p.m. Saturday and ordered her to open the register.
When she told him she could only open the register for a transaction, the man punched her on the left side of her face and grabbed two rolls of $1 Million Golden Ticket lottery tickets she was holding, the initial incident report stated.
She last saw the man running westbound across Gee toward Cherry Street.
The woman said the man stole 30 tickets, valued at $600. The store's manager, according to the report, notified the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery commission regarding the stolen tickets.
The clerk described the alleged robber as being a black man in his mid-20s, wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants. She said he was approximately 6' tall and weighed 160 pounds.
Police searched the area, but were unable to find the suspect.
