Deputies investigating mile-long illegal dumping

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Instead of taking their trash to the dump, someone tossed it onto the road. Now Craighead County sheriff's deputies are searching for those responsible.

On Sunday, Deputy Matt Kirby discovered "various pieces of garbage" along a one-mile stretch of County Road 403.

Kirby said in his report the trash was strewn from CR 476 to the county line.

"About 5 different dump sites appeared to be the same type of waste," said E911 Director Jeff Presley in an email.

The items included "empty bottles of baby formula, used disposable diapers and prescription bottles," Presley said.

He noted the prescription bottles also included names and addresses.

Anyone with information on this illegal dumping, should call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP (7867).
