Ravenden Springs boy, a 'true champion', passes away

RAVENDEN SPRINGS, AR -

Brenten Cox, the Ravenden Springs 10-year-old who had a fan club of A-State athletes and local sports teams, has died.

Brenton was diagnosed in June of 2015 with a rare brain tumor.

According to McNabb Funeral Home, he was the assistant coach of the Sloan-Hendrix 5th grade boys pee-wee basketball team, and was also a member of the Sloan-Hendrix Senior High Boys basketball team.

Since his diagnosis, he and his family were able to take trips like meeting Lebron James.

Services will be held at the Sloan-Hendrix School Gymnasium with visitation on Wednesday, March 9 from 4-8 p.m., and his funeral will be held on Thursday, March 10 at 2 p.m.

The Sloan-Hendrix Senior High boys basketball team will be his pallbearers, and A-State Assistant Football Coach Trooper Taylor and Reverend Randy Lingenfelter will be officiating.
