GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Greene County road crews worked all day Monday clearing ditches in preparation for heavy rainfall inching its way into the region.
They started a project Monday that was originally planned for next week because of the expected rain.
Roads Superintendent Dave Tierney told Region 8 News that County Road 719 is one of the FEMA sites where there has been a lot of water damage.
They installed new culverts and cleared the ditches to keep the road from washing out.
"It's always an inconvenience when a road washes out," Tierney said. "There are several residents. It is a low-lying area. When it washes out they obviously have to go around and come in from a different direction."
After completing the project Monday, the crew plans to head out Tuesday to look for downed trees and stopped up culverts throughout the county.
"We are prepared," Tierney said. "We have a very busy week ahead of us."
