Trumann, AR -- Late Tuesday afternoon, Trumann's third largest employer, Parker Hannifin, told all of it's employees, the doors are closing.

Parker Hannifin supplies air conditioning assemblies to the automotive industry.

"We feel deeply for those--it's a shock when you hear you are going to lose your job. Our main concern is with them right now," said Trumann Mayor, Ronnie Harrison.

After notifying the employees Tuesday afternoon, Vice President and General Manager Tom Bergeron gave Trumann Mayor Ronnie Harrison the bad news.

"He said they are going to Mexico because his competition was down there, and he had to keep up with his competition," said Harrison.

In a statement, Bergeron says the Trumann facility "does not have the volume of business required to support its current manufacturing capacity, and this is not expected to change in the near future".

Bergeron adds the company notified employees six months before the closing to provide as much notice as possible.

"It's going to be a big jolt at first, but you know the building is not leaving, and we are going to try to fill it with something else when they leave," said Harrison.

Mayor Harrison says they will start right away in trying to help those who will soon be without a steady paycheck.

"We are going to work with the state and try to get all of the benefits we can for the employees, our main concern is with the employees," said Harrison.
