JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

An observant pizza delivery driver knew something was amiss Monday night when he arrived at a boarded up house in the 400-block of North Drake with a “very large order.” Then, he told police, he saw the young man watching him “intently” from the bushes.

Trying to remain calm, the 25-year-old driver called Jonesboro police.

Officer Bryan Davis said he was in the area of North Drake and Johnson when he heard the suspicious persons call go out and sped to the scene.

The driver, according to the initial incident report, pointed out the area where he had seen the suspect watching him.

As Davis approached the area, he heard a “dull thud, as if an object had hit the ground.”

Davis shined his flashlight in that direction and saw the 16-year-old suspect trying to hide behind a bush.

The officer told the suspect to come out with his hands up and took him into custody.

When asked what he was doing at the vacant home, the teen reportedly told Davis he was “just sitting on the porch.”

Another officer arrived on the scene and together he and Davis searched the area.

According to the report, the officers found a blue bandana and a loaded Silver Raven Arms .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun where the suspect had been hiding.

Davis arrested the suspect, who was not identified due to his age, and took him to the Craighead County Juvenile Detention Center.

The suspect is charged with aggravated robbery and possession of a handgun by a minor.
