JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Representatives with the Crowley's Ridge Development Council in Jonesboro will be available to help qualifying families fill out assistance applications.
The CRDC will be set up Wednesday, March 9th at Fisher United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. They will be taking applications for regular and crisis utility bill assistance.
Funds for the programs are provided through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and help eligible households pay utility bills. The program pays benefits of fixed amounts and is based on household income.
However, additional benefits are available to households with a high energy burden.
Eligibility is based on annualized income and the number of members in the household. Special provisions are made for those households whose utility cost is included in their rent and those living in subsidized housing.
