Crash on Hwy. 18 leaves two vehicles submerged

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

2:05 p.m. UPDATE: A Craighead County sheriff's deputy told Region 8 News the Toyota Camry was eastbound when it crossed the center line and hit the Chrysler PT Cruiser head on.

Both cars ended up in the ditch.

All of the passengers and drivers were taken to local hospitals with unspecified injuries. 


1:54 p.m. UPDATE: The crash involved a Chrysler PT Cruiser with three people inside, including a small child, and a Toyota Camry with one person.

A witness on the scene said the child sustained a cut.

Wreckers have removed the vehicles from the scene, but traffic is still slow in this area. Motorists are urged to continue using caution.

The Lake City Police Department, Craighead County Sheriff's Office, and Arkansas State Police all responded to the crash.


Police and rescue crews have been dispatched to a 2-vehicle crash on Highway 18 near Bowman in Craighead County.

Dispatch confirmed to Region 8 News that the cars were submerged in the water.
