CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Rain has covered Region 8 for the past two days and several places around the area are flooded.
Craighead County Road 609 was shut down Thursday due to high waters over the road.
Many roads around Craighead County were covered because of the rain over the past two days.
Craighead County Judge Ed Hill said none of the roads were completely washed out yet though.
Resident Geneva Wood lives near CR 609 and said they have been lucky with water draining during breaks in the weather.
"So far it just fills up and while it is raining and it drains back off within the next day if it doesn't rain the next day," Wood said.
Wood said their airplane landing strip was covered, but other than that and some water in the yard, they were fine.
Other neighbors in the area said the county recently did some work to help with flooding.
One neighbor told Region 8 News extra gravel was added to raise the road.
Most people we spoke to said they are thankful the roads are open and safe to travel.
