The first job fair for the new PECO plant in Pocahontas was held Thursday.
Around 600 possible employees showed up to the event.
Tim Scott, the executive director of the chamber of commerce, said there was a line of applicants outside the door a little over an hour before the fair began.
Scott said he thinks the reputation that PECO has and its location is what people are so excited about.
"A lot of the workforce that live in Pocahontas and Randolph County work elsewhere in the region," Scott said. "This would help them quit making the drive back and forth.
This is the first job fair the plant has held.
More are scheduled for the third Tuesday of every month until July.
Plant Manager Alan Risley said they should start their first phase of work on May 9.
