BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

Most of the Blytheville Sports Complex is underwater after the heavy rain.

The road leading to the sports complex and Thunder Bayou Golf Course is closed due to floodwaters covering the road.

The east entrance to the Blytheville Humane Society is also closed.

An employee at the humane society told Region 8 News she has seen several issues from the flooding.

“One of my co-workers said she actually saw a car underwater the other day and when they were going to leave one part was actually flooded and they had to turn around and go the other way,” employee Destiny Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said she and her husband were driving Thursday when water actually came into the car.

She said her neighbor’s fence also fell into her yard due to all the floodwaters that had gathered and washed it away.

The humane society is still open even though one entrance is closed. Employees say drivers can come in through the west entrance.

The Mississippi landfill is also closed due to poor road conditions.

Sanitation pickups for Blytheville were canceled Friday but will be made up on Monday.
