JPD: Rape suspect arrested

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The suspect in a Jonesboro rape case is under arrest.  

According the Paul Holmes, Public Information Specialist for the Jonesboro Police Department, 19-year-old Malik Shermar Roby of Brinkley surrendered to police Monday night.

According to a news release, Jonesboro police had issued a bench warrant for Roby on a charge of rape.

Sgt. Kenny Oldham of Jonesboro Police and the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children unit, investigated a complaint alleging that Roby had sexual contact with a 12-year-old female in Jonesboro.

Roby will have a probable cause hearing Tuesday afternoon in Craighead County District Court.
