GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Greene County sheriff's deputies strapped on new body armor Tuesday.
The department received the new armor from grant money and reserve funds in the budget.
Sheriff David Carter said the department is required to get new armor every five years and the previous armor was outdated.
He said the updated armor is a great addition to help keep the deputies safe.
Carter also said he is looking into more grants for other equipment in the future.
"We are also looking into some other agencies to get some body cameras," Carter said. "I think that is a direction everyone is moving to and we need to be going that direction also."
Carter also said they would like a few more vehicles if they could get the grant money for them.
