Sharp County Judge Dies in Little Rock Hospital

ASH FLAT, AR - Sharp County Judge Harold Crawford died yesterday in a Little Rock hospital.

The 66-year-old Crawford was currently serving his fourth term in office.  He had served as Sharp County's Judge since January 1, 1999.

A spokeswoman in the Judge's office said Crawford had been hospitalized for approximately five weeks at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Little Rock.

Crawford had a long history of public service in both Arkansas and Texas.  He served as Judge of Rockwall County, Texas for more than 20 years.  He had also served in Texas as a judge in municipal court, justice court and county courts-at-law.

Crawford is survived by his wife, Susan, plus two sons and a daughter.

Funeral services are set for 11 o'clock Saturday morning at the Highland High School gym.  Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Tri-County Cherokee Chapel at Highland.  Meanwhile, the Sharp County Courthouse will be closed tomorrow in observance of Judge Crawford's death.
