NWS confirms tornado touched down Sunday night

CROSS COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The National Weather Service in Memphis confirmed Thursday that a tornado touched down in Region 8 during Sunday night's storms.

The NWS stated an EF-1 tornado touched down 4.5 miles northwest of Parkin in Cross County, just east of Arkansas Route 75, around 9:10 p.m. March 13.

The tornado, packing 90 mile an hour winds, measured approximately 125 yards and traveled 1.97 miles within 5 minutes before dissipating.

During its trek, according to the NWS, the "weak" twister caused minor roof damage to a house and outbuilding. It also damaged a hangar and tore the door off a barn.
