JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Bono man took a chance early Friday morning and tried to avoid a traffic stop by Jonesboro police. He did not succeed.
Shortly after midnight, Officer Trey Chism stated he saw a black Yukon go left of center multiple times while traveling south on Red Wolf Boulevard.
Chism attempted to stop the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Chance Tubbs of Bono, who continued onto the bypass, traveling below the speed limit but not stopping.
More officers joined the pursuit which ended just north of the Washington Avenue exit.
While one officer stopped traffic to provide safety, others conducted a "high risk stop."
As Tubbs got out of the vehicle, Chism noted he "stumbled and was uneasy on his feet."
Chism stated Tubbs had bloodshot, watery eyes and a "strong odor of intoxicants."
Police arrested Tubbs and took him to the Craighead County Detention Center where he agreed to a portable breathalyzer test.
According to the incident report, Tubbs gave two samples of .11 and .09.
He was cited for fleeing and driving while intoxicated.
Tubbs was left in custody at the CCDC in lieu of a $1,575 surety bond.
